Microsoft is discontinuing support for Internet Explorer

After 25 years web browser Internet Explorer is being retired. As officials from Microsoft confirmed, the support for this browser will cease next year. More precisely from august 17th, 2021 Internet Explorer will officially be discontinued.

This refers to all services and applications from Microsoft 365 package: Office 365, OneDrive, Outlook, OneNote and others. Microsoft Teams applications will stop working on 30th November this year.

The end or the new beginning?

Updated version of Microsoft web browser, that is based on Chromium, Microsoft Edge, from next year becomes Microsoft’s default browser. The downside is that it is supported only for Windows 10 operating system, so the interest for this browser is very low. Interestingly, the new Edge will have Internet Explorer mode, together with other functions such as group policies, better security measures, data synchronization, surfing over the keyboard, voice control and others.

“New Edge is the best modern browser”, as they say in Microsoft. We will wait and see.

Aldo, the popularity of Internet Explorer, has sharply decreased thanks to Mozilla and Google Chrome, this browser still has it’s loyal users. Unfortunately, from next year they will have to look for an alternative.
