Disney Speedstorm – Kart Racing in the Disney Universe

Disney Speedstorm is a free arcade kart racing game featuring characters from Disney and Pixar films. It is available for Windows, Android, iOS, and various consoles (PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch).

What Is Disney Speedstorm?

Disney Speedstorm is designed as a fun and fast-paced kart racer inspired by films from the mentioned studios. The game was developed by Gameloft’s Barcelona studio (the creator of the well-known Asphalt series).

During races, players can boost, collide, and attack opponents. Many aspects of the karts and driver outfits can be customized. The game is cross-platform, allowing you to start a race on one device and finish it on another.

You won’t be racing on traditional karting tracks, each track is based on themes from well-known animated films. Tracks include secret shortcuts and moving obstacles. The user interface is colorful and fully in the spirit of animated movies.

Characters have unique special abilities that set them apart. To win consistently, players need to understand the abilities of their chosen racer. Drivers are divided into four classes with different playstyles:

  • Speedster (e.g., Mickey Mouse): Focused on speed and taking advantage of the racing line.
  • Trickster (e.g., Mulan): Masters of disruption who hinder opponents.
  • Brawler (e.g., Sulley, Donald Duck): Aggressive racers who gain advantage through attacks.
  • Defender (e.g., Hercules): Defensive specialists who advance using slipstream tactics.

You can race against AI-controlled characters or real players. Console versions also support local multiplayer with friends. Available modes include solo races, group races, and team-versus-team matches.

Experience With Disney Speedstorm

Disney Speedstorm feels more like Mario Kart than the previously mentioned Asphalt series. The developers aim to combine nostalgia for Disney and Pixar worlds with dynamic action-oriented gameplay.

The game receives seasonal updates that introduce new content, characters, and tracks, helping keep the experience fresh. The current season is Season 16, inspired by Winnie the Pooh.

Disney Speedstorm is essentially free to play, but many users note that progression can be slow and frustrating without investing in microtransactions. In other words, the game tends to reward players who spend money rather than those who rely solely on skill.

After installation, you’ll be guided through an extensive interactive tutorial. The kart controls are simple, require no special learning, and let players jump into races immediately.

The number of active players varies depending on the platform and game version, which can affect the availability of online races. This is not a game for those who expect a realistic kart-driving simulation.

This is not a racing simulator, fun comes first, and the atmosphere is relaxed. However, when played for long periods, the content can begin to feel repetitive.

The PC system requirements are relatively modest (Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3, NVIDIA GTX 650 or AMD Radeon HD 7750, 8 GB RAM), and detailed hardware information can be checked on Steam. Mobile versions require 5 GB of storage space.

This is a casual arcade game for occasional play. If approached with realistic expectations—as entertainment—players will be satisfied. Disney Speedstorm will be especially appealing to those who grew up with classic Disney animated characters.
