ThumbnailCity – Change the Default Video Thumbnail
Thumbnail or cover image is the image that we can see when we open a folder with a video file on the computer. It is an image that stands on the video file before we play the video, and that represents one scene, that is, a frame from the video.
ThumbnailCity is a free program for Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 that will allow you to easily choose which scene in a video will serve as a thumbnail.
How Does ThumbnailCity Work?
When you install ThumbnailCity, there will be no shortcut on your desktop, nor will you have the option to create one. This is because the program is started by right-clicking on a video file and then selecting the newly obtained Assign thumbnail option from the context menu.
After this, the program menu will open, which looks a bit outdated and in which not a single option is explained. This is not such a big problem because the program is incredibly easy to use, but also because at the end of the installation, you will be offered the option to watch a video tutorial.
As we said, ThumbnailCity is used to change the default thumbnail that is shown on a video file when you open the folder where that file is located. In this menu, you will be able to view the entire video, but there are also options that will allow you to precisely navigate through the recording, which is convenient to find the desired frame more easily.
When you find the frame you want to use as a thumbnail, click the circle button and you’re done. Now the frame you selected will serve as the thumbnail of the video. If you’re undecided on exactly which frame you want to use, there’s also a handy option that will allow you to save multiple different frames so you can easily find and use them later.
There isn’t much in the settings section. You’ll be able to adjust how the video navigation controls work, as well as determine how certain UI elements will look. Honestly, to successfully use ThumbnailCity you will never need to enter this section.
ThumbnailCity Is an Interesting Program, but One Wonders Who Is It Made For
ThumbnailCity is an interesting program and we liked it conceptually. However, we wonder who exactly is this program for? It can’t be used for YouTube, and we can’t imagine that anyone cares exactly which scene is shown in the video file. However, if this is something that seems interesting to you, we suggest you try ThumbnailCity since the program works correctly and without errors.
