CapCut is a free video editing app available for Android and iOS. According to a large number of users and with a rating of 4.7 stars on the Google Play Store and 4.4 on the Apple Store, this is currently one of the best apps in this category. In this review, we will check whether all this is true.
How Does CapCut Work?
CapCut is an app that comes to us from Bytedance, the company that owns TikTok. Bytedance says that this app was developed with the idea to complement the basic video editing features available on TikTok. In this review, we’ll focus on the Android version, but everything we say applies to the iOS version as well.
As far as features go, we have to admit we’re pleasantly surprised. CapCut contains all the basic, but also quite a few advanced options that we don’t see so often in mobile video editing applications. The app works extremely fast but requires you to have a minimum of 8 GB of RAM if you work with larger files.
From the basic options, you will be able to speed up, slow down, cut the video, add images, text, sound, filters, effects, and stickers, merge multiple recordings into one, and more. Among the advanced functions, you will find the option to freeze the frame, remove the background, extract the audio from the video, as well as set in detail how the sound will be reproduced and remove noises, improve the image quality, and much more. Once you’re done editing, you’ll be able to save the video to your phone or upload it to TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook right from the app.
The user interface is nice and easy to use, and if you have ever used a video editing application on a mobile phone, you will immediately understand how to use it. In addition to this, you will find video tutorials inside the app to help you learn how to use CapCut more easily, which we particularly liked.
One major criticism we have is that CapCut collects absolutely all user data. This means it collects data about your location, pictures, videos, sounds, device performance, in-app activity, and who knows what else. Bytedance claims that this data is not sold to anyone and is used solely to improve the app, but this is something that a lot of tech companies say, and it is known to be just a lie. We, of course, have no way of verifying whether this is true, but we must admit that we are extremely cynical when it comes to these things and do not believe the statements of corporations at all.
CapCut Really Is One of the Best Video Editing Apps Right Now
When there’s smoke, there’s fire, and the excellent rating users have given CapCut is well deserved. It contains a lot of options to edit your video, has a beautiful and highly functional user interface, and is easy to use. If you can ignore the blatant tracking of user activity, we highly recommend you give CapCut a try.
