Hellbound: Survival Mode
As early as the late 1990s, first-person shooters became the most popular genre of video games. This trend has not changed to date. What has changed is that games that mechanically resemble “old school” shooters like Quake, Doom, and Duke Nukem 3D are becoming popular again.
One such game is Hellbound: Survival Mode, a free game for Windows 7, 8, and 10. In addition to being a phenomenal shooter, the great advantage of this game is its modest hardware requirements, which means that it will work without any problems on old computers.
Hellbound: Survival Mode gameplay
Hellbound: Survival Mode puts you in the role of a muscular super-soldier named Hellgore. Hellgore is trapped on a small island somewhere in the middle of hell and has to fight against hordes of demons, which appear from all sides and try to tear you to pieces. The attacks take place in waves, and between each wave, you have a few seconds to catch your breath.
You start the game armed with a semi-automatic rifle that fires bullets slowly and does not cause much damage, but very soon your arsenal will be upgraded. You will get a baseball bat decorated with barbed wire, a shotgun, an automatic rifle, and a rocket launcher. Each of these weapons is useful in a certain situation, even a starting rifle, and a good player will know how to recognize the best moment to use the right weapon.
The feel when using any weapon is great, with phenomenal sounds and beautiful animations. Movement is, by modern standards, very fast, and the control of your character is extremely precise. Because of all this, the gameplay is great, and becoming good in the game will bring you great pleasure.

Graphics and performance
Hellbound: Survival Mode runs on Unreal Engine 4 and looks absolutely beautiful. Since the game takes place in hell, the predominant color is red, and the game most closely resembles Doom (2016). Weapons and enemies are detailed, and the animations, although limited, are very well done.
In terms of performance, we have already mentioned that the game is phenomenally optimized. When you start the game you can choose between Classic and Remaster versions. If you have an older computer, we suggest you choose the Classic version as it is less demanding.
Conclusion
Hellbound: Survival Mode is a great game. As for the old and modern shooters, this is an example of one of the better ones. Since the game is free, it easily gets our recommendation.
