Top 3 Best Free Android and iOS Apps That Will Help You Lose Weight

If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you know how important it is to take care of your diet, plan meals and monitor your progress during the diet. As in many aspects of modern life, technology can help us here.

We tested the most popular apps in this category and made a list of the top 3 best free Android and iOS apps to help you lose weight. Unfortunately, only for the first app on this list, we believe that there is no need to buy a premium version, while for the other two, although it is not necessary, it will improve the user experience.

Chronometer

Cronometer

Cronometer is a free weight loss app available for Android and iOS. What we liked most about this application is the huge amount of information for tracking nutrients in food. In addition to calories, Cronometer will show you the amount of vitamins, carbohydrates, protein, and much more.

When you install the application, you need to create a free account. After this, Cronometer will ask you a short questionnaire in which you should enter your gender, age, height, and weight. The last step is to enter the target weight you want to achieve and after that, you can start using the app.

On the home page of the application, you will see the date, the diet diary, and a breakdown of daily calories, which includes the calories consumed, burned, and remaining for that day. By pressing the plus sign at the bottom of the screen, you can add the food you plan to eat that day, and adding food is also possible by scanning the bar code. The Cronometer also allows you to take personal notes, adjust biometrics and record the exercises you do.

When you add food, it is possible to enter the portion size and see the complete nutritional value of that meal. It is also possible to save foods that you use often and recipes that you like to prepare, so you can always easily access them.

The user interface of Cronometer is quite simple, but it is clear and easy to use, so it is easy to navigate the application.

Fooducate

Fooducate

Fooducate is a free app for Android and iOS to help you lose weight. The hardest thing about any diet is maintaining motivation, and support from others who are going through the same thing as you can be crucial in whether you persevere or give up. That is why we chose Fooducate.

As with Cronometer, after installing Fooducate, you need to create a free account, fill out a short questionnaire and set your goals. In the application, you can monitor the intake and quality of calories from food, the nutritional value of that food, and the amount of water ingested in the last month. The amount of information you will get here is less than in Cronometer, but it is still quite satisfactory and will give you a solid insight into the quality of your diet.

The best feature of Fooducate is the ability to connect and communicate with other users of the application. You can see the latest and most popular user posts, as well as write a post that other users can reply to and give you their support. Also, the application will occasionally send you motivational notifications, which if you do not want to receive, you can turn off in the settings. Another phenomenal option is recipes and diet tips from other users.

What we didn’t like were the ads, which will often take up a large part of the screen and which are very intrusive. By purchasing the premium version of the app, you will remove all ads and gain access to certain options, and it is possible to purchase a monthly, annual, and lifetime subscription.

Lifesum

Lifesum

Lifesum is a free weight loss app available for Android and iOS. The reason why we chose this application is because, in our opinion, this is the best application for beginners and those who know nothing about nutrition and healthy eating.

As with Cronometer and Fooducate, the first thing you need to do is create a free account, fill out a short questionnaire, and set your goals. The main options of the application are similar to the previous two applications, so we will not describe them again. The biggest criticism we have is that the recipe section is locked behind the subscription.

As we said, this is the best app for beginners. When you set a weight loss goal, Lifesum will give you the opportunity to plan your meals and give you advice on which foods are best to eat and in what quantities. You will not need any prior knowledge for this and you will find all the necessary information in the application itself. The fact that you don’t have access to recipes in the free version is most pronounced here, but honestly, you don’t need them because you can easily get recipes via the Internet, but it would be much more convenient to have it all in the app itself.
