Top 3 Best Free Android and iOS Apps for VPN
When we talk about VPN applications, the first thing to keep in mind is that this is a category where free applications come with great restrictions and are often unusable for any more serious use, at least until you pay. The most common restrictions are limiting the speed of the Internet, and the amount of free gigabytes you can spend per month, and often they show a large number of ads that make it almost impossible to use the app.
However, there are free VPN applications that offer a solid service with limitations that are not so great. Check out our list of the top 3 best free Android and iOS apps for VPN.
Unfortunately, we are of the opinion that if you want to use a VPN every day, it is best to pay for the full version. This is the only way to get a really good service, without the artificial limitations that are there just to make you pay.
ProtonVPN
ProtonVPN is a free VPN application for Android and iOS and is also available for Windows 7, 8, 10, macOS, and Linux. In our post about the best VPN programs for the computer, we put it in the first place and declared it the best, and that is the case when we talk about the best VPN applications for Android and iOS.
The main reason why we consider ProtonVPN the best is the fact that there is no monthly limit on how much you can use it. This means that there are no limits when it comes to the amount of internet you can spend, which is very unusual for this type of application.
ProtonVPN allows you to connect to three servers on which you can set your location, namely America, Japan, and the Netherlands. It includes DNS leak protection and allows you to automatically connect to a VPN when your computer starts up. The icing on the cake is the fact that there are no ads at all.
The biggest drawback of ProtonVPN is that it limits the speed of free users, especially in the evening, when the Internet is used the most, and it happens that the connection is sometimes unstable. Due to this limitation, it is not suitable for games, but it is great for other activities, especially downloading.

Atlas VPN
Atlas VPN is a free VPN application for Android and iOS and is also available for Windows 10, 11, and macOS. The biggest advantage of this VPN application is security. It uses AES-256 encryption, as well as WireGuard and IKEv2 protocols for maximum security, and also does not store any user data. This is without a doubt one of the most secure VPN applications.
There are three servers you can set your location to: one in the Netherlands and two in the US. It contains an option called Kill Switch that will protect your anonymity on the Internet in case you lose your VPN connection, and it also includes a built-in Ad Blocker.
The biggest drawback of Atlas VPN is that in the free version it provides 10 GB of Internet per month. When you spend this 10 GB you will have to pay the premium version or wait for the next month. Another drawback is the fact that you can only use the account you create on one device, so if you have two phones, you will have to create two accounts.
Atlas VPN is a great VPN that offers maximum security, works perfectly, but limits usage. Its speed is better than ProtonVPN, and the connection is more stable. This is the best free VPN for mobile devices, at least while you have free gigabytes.

Hide.me VPN
Hide.me VPN is a free VPN application for Android and iOS and is also available for Windows 7, 8, 10, 11, macOS, and Linux. According to the user score, which is only 3.9 stars on the Google Play Store, you would say that this is not such a good app. However, Hide.me VPN offers something we haven’t found with any other VPN, and that is that it doesn’t limit the speed of free users at all.
It allows connection to four servers located in Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, and the USA. All locations allow P2P connection, which is great if you want to use it for torrents. Also, you don’t have to create an account to use it, which is phenomenal for anonymity and security on the Internet, and it also includes the Kill Switch option, as well as the Atlas VPN.
Its biggest drawback, as with the Atlas VPN, is that in the free version limits ussage to 10 GB per month, after which you will have to wait until the end of the month or pay.
