Tree Style Tab is a free plugin for the Mozilla Firefox web browser that turns the bar with open tabs into a hierarchy-based sidebar. It is important to note that there is a plugin in Google Chrome with exactly the same name and similar function, but it is a product of another company and it is not a plugin that we will write about in this review.
How Does the Tree Style Tab Work?
When you install the Tree Style Tab plugin, its icon will appear in the upper right corner of the browser, and a new menu containing all your tabs will appear on the left. By clicking on this icon, you show or hide the plugin’s menu, and the plugin will work and properly record all launched tabs even when this menu is hidden.
The organization of tabs that we have in the Tree Style Tab is organized into a hierarchy. This means that if, for example, you go to YouTube, and then open several videos from the home page in new tabs, the tabs will be organized into a group where the YouTube home page will be the main tab and all other subtabs.
Subtabs can be visible, but you can also hide them, and when they are hidden on the side it will say how many subtabs are in the group. In addition, you can add any tab as a subtab to any group. This is the main advantage of the Tree Style Tab compared to the solution we have in Firefox because it makes working with a large number of tabs much easier and more convenient.
In addition to tabs, you can also display bookmarks and search history in the Tree Style Tab menu. We especially liked that you can change this view using keyboard shortcuts, which makes accessing these options even more convenient.
When it comes to appearance, there are several themes available, which can be divided into light, which is mainly white and light gray, and dark, which is dark gray and black. In addition, there is a blue theme and one that is without any decoration. Also, you can place the plugin menu along the left or right edge of the screen, and you can freely determine the width of the plugin menu.
Tree Style Tab Will Be Most Helpful to Those Who Often Have Many Opened Tabs
Tree Style Tab is a great plugin and it will be most helpful to those who often have many opened tabs, but we believe that it will also be liked by those who like to close unnecessary tabs regularly. The ability to display bookmarks and search history is also a great option and we really liked it. During use, we did not encounter any problems or bugs, so Tree Style Tab gets our recommendation.
